Two Important Questions to Ask a Criminal Lawyer

Asking different questions to your criminal lawyer is an important step you have to take before hiring him to assist and defend you on court. You need to know that he is competent enough to get you through the trial and obtain a result that is in your best interest.

The three important questions below will help you determine whether or not you can trust your criminal lawyer. Without that trust, you will not only suffer from stress throughout the hearing but also the trial itself may not go as smoothly as it could.

How many similar cases has he handled?

Knowledge and expertise come from experience and not just from reading law books. The more similar cases he has handled, the more knowledgeable he is on what he has to do in order to prove your innocence or reduce your sentence, thus giving you a better chance of a positive outcome for your case.

Does he have courtroom experience?

There are lawyers out there, no matter how knowledgeable they are, who are afraid of going to trial. Once the prosecution finds out that your lawyer is afraid, they can easily intimidate him and use your attorney’s fears to their advantage.

Your criminal lawyer must be familiar, comfortable and confident with the trial process, especially when going to trial is the best for your interest.
